Covalent Bonding

Covalent bonding is the sharing of electrons between atoms. This usually occurs between two atoms of the same element or between different elements, and it commonly happens between non metals, however there are some rare cases where non metals bond with metals. In covalent bonding, to fill both outer shells, the valence electrons in the nonmetal atoms are shared between each other.

A non polar covalent bond is formed between same atoms or atoms of the same element such as Cl  . A polar covalent bond is where a pair of electrons is unequally shared between two atoms. For example H O
Covalent bonding have strong intra-molecular forces- it has a strong bonds between the atoms, however it has weak intermolecular forces-Weak forces holding the molecules together.
