Hydrogen
Hydrogen is the first element in the periodic table, it is a colourless, nonmetallic, tasteless and highly combustible gas. Like every other element in Group 1, it has 1 valence electron, however it is different because it is the only gas, as the others(in Group 1) are all metallic.

Uses: Hydrogen powered fuel cells are used as a pollution free alternative, some are being used in cars and buses. Hydrogen is also used to make ammonia as well as a way to produce hydrochloric acid, rocket fuel, etc.
